Climbing Gerlach Peak in Slovakia

Gerlach peak, in Slovakia called Gerlachovský štít, is not only the highest peak in the High Tatras but in the entire Carpathian mountains. This is one of the main reasons why many people decide to climb to the top. We just like to be on the top and reach the limit!

Reaching the peak demands a lot of effort with elements of climbing, but under the eye of an experienced guide it is possible for anyone with good physical condition and average mountain experience. It is definitely not suitable for people with a fear of heights.

Is it possible to start the trip to Gerlach Peak from Zakopane ? Yes, it is. To start this beatiful alpine style adventure you just need to wake up very early. Don't forget to take your passport or ID as you need to drive from Zakopane to Slovakia where all trails to Gerlach Peak begin.

There is no marked trail to Gerlach Peak. The climbing trip to Gerlach peak has to be arranged with a certified mountain guide, e.g. guide IVBV, which has the appropriate qualifications. One guide can lead up to 3 people.

As it is the highest point within a few hundred kilometers you can expect absolutely impressive and picturesque views.
